The conference program will be held on November 15th and will include two sessions, morning and afternoon. The morning session will include keynote addresses on the "State of the POF Industry" and an exciting presentation on "40 Gbps Data Links Over Plastic Optical Fiber'" by researchers at Georgia Tech. The afternoon session will be devoted to the status of POF standards both domestically and internationally.
The ISO/IEC has developed standards for optical fibers and optical fiber cables which includes nine classes of fibers, five for glass fibers, and four for POF and PCS. The ISO/IEC has also developed a standard for Industrial Control Cabling Standard (ISO/IEC 24702) which includes the fiber standards and specifies 25 meter, 50 meter, and 100 meter requirements. This standard is also being incorporated into a standard being developed by TIA for industrial control wiring. In the same session a review of Industrial Control Standards using POF will be presented by Rockwell Automation. The final paper of the session will be by a representative from Telcordia reporting on the work of the SAE, "WDM LAN Task Group". He will make a presentation on the "Status of WDM LAN Standards Development for Aerospace Applications."
This is truly an exciting program and POFTO sincerely hopes you will join us.
